When getting ready to start your home decorating project, you need to be sure you are prepared with the right tools. Using the right tools for the job will go a long way towards making your project a success.

Having a way to store your tools will also help with your project. A standard toolbox might work, but there are also other types of containers that will work just fine. Choose a tool storage container that will hold your tools and is easy to carry around.

The following is a list of tools that you may need. Of course, depending on the size and scope of your project, you may not need every tool on this list, or you may need tools that are not listed here.

General Home Decorating Tools (apply to most projects):

  • Hammer & Nails
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and flat head) and screws
  • Drywall anchors
  • Picture wire
  • T-square or level
  • Scissors
  • Utility knife
  • Tape measure
  • Paint brushes
  • Glue or spray adhesive
  • Sandpaper
